Union Pacific delivered a small portion of its heritage fleet to non-profit Railroading Heritage of Midwest America (RRHMA) in November. The donated equipment, which included Challenger No. 3985, TTT-6 No. 5511, Centennial No. 6936 and several passenger rail cars, left Union Pacific’s Steam Shop in Cheyenne, Wyoming, on Nov. 11, and made periodic maintenance stops along the way in Wyoming, Colorado, Nebraska and Iowa. The donated locomotives were not under power during this trip and were pulled by diesel locomotives.
These pictures are between South Amana, IA and Rock Island, IL. It was twenty-seven degrees all day with a wind that just wouldn't quit. At one point I was shooting in a snow squall and ten minutes later the clouds were gone. The wind never let up though. It was brutal.
