These are foundry patterns that are on display in our Blacksmith Shop in the enginehouse. Foundry patterns are made of wood and are used to create the molds for new parts. The smelter in McGill had patterns of every shape and size for the hundreds of different parts of the machinery.
When the smelter was closed down, the company offered up the patterns as free firewood to locals. One local picked these up and took them home and saved them. After holding on to them, he offered them to the museum and they were put on display.
