February: Nevada Northern Railway
Scale Test Car #5000 Wheel Detail
Home built by the railroad in 1913, the test car was used to calibrate and test the scales that weighed the ore cars. Using materials at hand, the wheels were the pilot and trailing ones from tank engine #5 when it was converted to a standard 2-8-0 and renumbered to #80.
Steam from Locomotive #93 during morning startup
The doors had just been opened and the golden sun backlit the steam.
Nevada Northern Railway Locomtive #93 Steams out of the Engine House
This photo is a perfect example of the show they put on for the photographers. They must have pulled out of the building four or five times, each time putting out as much smoke and steam as they could. It was a hell of a show.
